This week’s inspiration springs from Terry Smagh, who manages Asia Pacific for Infor. A leader who champions a culture of #Trust and #Respect.

Here’s his enlightening approach: 𝔼𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕪𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝕊𝕥𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕤 𝕎𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝔽𝕦𝕝𝕝 𝕋𝕒𝕟𝕜𝕤:

Terry starts by giving new team members two full tanks right from the start: 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁. This jumpstarts a sense of belonging and psychological safety.

𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲𝘀: Trust and respect are sustained through consistent actions. Terry evaluates team members based on:

✔ 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆: Do their actions match their words?

✔ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Do they keep promises and deliver results?

✔ 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Do they consistently enhance and apply their skills to deliver maximum value to Infor’s clients and team?

✔ 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Can you consistently count on them to care and deliver excellence, or do they perform like Melbourne’s weather?

✔ 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁: Do they uplift and support colleagues, or are they more prone to detracting, gossiping, and backstabbing?

✔ 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿: Are they polite, considerate, and fair in interactions, or are they rude, inconsiderate, unprofessional, or dismissive towards colleagues?

✔ 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: Do they strive to improve themselves, inspired by others’ success (#envy), or are they driven by a desire to see others fail (destructive #jealousy)?

For Terry, trust and respect are initially given freely, but their maintenance hinges on consistent actions and attitudes.
